Managing subscribers

Add, connect, import, organize, and export the people on your list, and keep their tags, fields, and email activity together in one place.

Audience is where your subscribers live. It shows how the list is growing, an Add card for one person, an Import card for many, and a row for Everyone plus each group you’ve saved.

Add a subscriber

  1. Open Audience.
  2. Select Add.
  3. Enter their email address.
  4. Fill in any field values and choose tags.
  5. Select Save.

Caution

Manual adds don’t send a confirmation email. Only add people who expect to hear from you.

Bring in subscribers

For more than one person at a time, select Import on the Audience page. It connects a platform you sell or publish on, so people who opt in there keep arriving, or imports a CSV file once.

Importing: Bring subscribers into XOXO two ways: connect a platform you sell or publish on and new people import automatically, or import a CSV file once.

View subscribers

  1. Open Audience.
  2. Select Everyone, or a group.
  3. Use Find by email to jump to one person, or the filter button to narrow the list.
  4. Select a subscriber to see their details.

A subscriber’s page shows their fields, tags, and the groups they belong to, followed by their activity: how they joined (by hand, from a file, from a connection, or through a form) and every email sent to them, with its opens, clicks, and likes.

Update subscribers

  1. Open a subscriber.
  2. Select Edit.
  3. Change their email address, field values, or tags.
  4. Select Save.

To tag or untag many people at once, filter the list, select Actions, then Add tag or Remove tag.

Export subscribers

An export includes the subscribers currently shown, so the group and filters you’ve applied come along. The file has a column for the email address, the source, each of your fields, tags, and the date each person joined.

  1. Open Audience, then select Everyone or a group.
  2. Add filters if you only want part of your audience.
  3. Select Actions, then Export CSV.
  4. When the export is ready, select Download in the notification.

The download link is good for a few minutes. Run the export again if it expires.

Delete subscribers

  1. Open a subscriber, or filter the list to the people you want to delete.
  2. Select the subscriber’s actions menu, or Actions for a filtered list.
  3. Select Delete.
  4. If they asked to be removed, turn on Unsubscribe.
  5. Confirm the deletion.

Caution

Turning on Unsubscribe keeps the address from coming back by hand, through an import, or from a connection. The person can return only by confirming a signup form themselves.
