Managing subscriber fields

Save extra details about your subscribers, like names, dates, locations, and preferences, then use them in emails, signup forms, and group filters.

Fields are the details you save about each subscriber beyond their email address: a name, a city, a birthday, a yes or no. Fill them in by hand, from an import or connection, or through a signup form, then use them as email variables or in group filters.

Create a field

  1. Open Audience, then select Everyone.
  2. Select the actions menu in the upper right.
  3. Select Fields.
  4. Select the add button and choose Text, Number, Date, or Yes / No.
  5. Name the field and save it.

Pick the type that matches the data. A date field can filter on “in the last 30 days” and a number field on “more than 100”, where a text field can’t.

Tip

Edit fields appears wherever you assign field values, in the add-subscriber form, an import, and a connection, so you can create a field without losing your place.

Update a field

  1. Open Fields.
  2. Select the field name.
  3. Rename it, then save.

Renaming a field doesn’t change the values already saved for your subscribers.

Reorder fields

  1. Open Fields.
  2. Drag fields into the order you want.

This order is used when you edit a subscriber and when you choose fields for a form.

Delete a field

  1. Open Fields.
  2. Select the delete button for the field.
  3. Confirm the deletion.

Caution

Deleting a field permanently removes every value saved for it, takes it off your signup forms, and clears any group filters that use it.
