Managing subscriber groups

Save filtered subscriber lists for focused sends. Groups update on their own as subscribers are added, changed, tagged, or removed.

A group is a saved set of filters. The people in it are always the ones who match right now.

Create a group

  1. Open Audience, then select Everyone.
  2. Select the filter button and add one or more filters.
  3. Select Actions, then Save as group.
  4. Name the group and save it.

A subscriber has to match every filter to be in the group. Filters come in three kinds:

  • Fields: the email address and any field you’ve created, with operators that fit the type, like “includes” for text, “is more than” for numbers, and “in the last” for dates.
  • Attributes: how someone joined (Source, Form, or Connection), when they were Created, and their Tags.
  • Activity: whether and how recently they were Emailed, Opened, Clicked, or Liked, or how many times.

Groups appear on the Audience page with a live count.

Email a group

  1. Open or create an email.
  2. Select the audience and subject button at the top of the email.
  3. Choose the group from the audience list.

When you send, XOXO uses the subscribers who match the group at that moment. See Sending.

Update a group

  1. Open Audience, then select the group.
  2. Open the group menu at the top of the list.
  3. Select the actions menu next to the group, then Edit.
  4. Change the name or filters, then save.

Delete a group

  1. Open Audience, then select the group.
  2. Open the group menu at the top of the list.
  3. Select the actions menu next to the group, then Delete.
  4. Confirm the deletion.

Deleting a group doesn’t delete any subscribers.
