Creating forms

Build and customize a signup form people can join from an XOXO page or your own site. Public signups confirm by email before they're added.

Create a form

  1. Open Forms.
  2. Select the add button.

The new form opens in the editor with its landing page and success page already filled in, using the design from your most recent form. It’s live at its own address from the moment it exists.

Note

Forms accept subscribers before sending is set up. You’ll still need to finish sending setup before your first email.

Customize a form

Each form has its own design, content, fields, and tags. The editor has a panel on each side: design on the left, settings on the right.

  1. Open Forms and select the form.
  2. At the top of the editor, choose Landing or Success, then edit that page’s blocks on the canvas. Blocks work the same way they do when writing an email.
  3. Select the design button in the upper left for background and text colors and header and body fonts. Layout chooses between A single column and A column beside an image, with the image’s placement and size.
  4. Open Design and turn Referral badge off to remove the badge from the landing page, the success page, and the confirmation email.
  5. Select the form block on the landing page to style its submit button. It has the same presets, colors, corners, and padding as a Button block, and the fields above it follow those same settings. Its text is edited on the canvas and starts as Subscribe.
  6. Select the settings button in the upper right for the form’s Landing page address, Embed instructions, whether Search engines may list it, Fields to choose which fields the form asks for and which are required (email is always there and always required), and Tags, which tags every subscriber who joins through the form. The first three are covered in Sharing and Embedding.

The confirmation email between them is XOXO’s own, in your form’s design: a short consent message (header, text, the Confirm subscription button, and a footer), so confirming has one job. There’s nothing to edit.

Duplicate or delete a form

The Forms page lists each form with its subscriber count.

  1. Open Forms.
  2. Select the actions menu on the form.
  3. Choose Duplicate or Delete. The same menu holds View and Embed.

Caution

Deleting a form also removes it from any group filters that use it. It doesn’t delete the subscribers who joined through it.
